RTA Collective Foundation - 45 years of expertise in the 2nd pillar

For over four decades, the RTA Collective Foundation has been a small but excellent foundation for the promotion and implementation of occupational pensions. Solidly financed and competently managed, it covers the needs of its SME customers perfectly.

How it all began

Since its establishment on July 9, 1976 under the name "RTA-Gemeinschaftsstiftung", the foundation has offered employee benefit solutions for companies and self-employed persons with regard to the economic consequences of old age, death, illness, disability, unemployment, military service and special emergencies in the canton of Baselland. The service was aimed in particular at the clientele of Ramseier Treuhand AG. The organizational form quickly developed in the direction of a collective foundation, which is why the name was consequently changed in 1985 to "RTA Collective Foundation", which is still valid today. In 1989, the foundation became subject to the BVG (Federal Law on Occupational Retirement, Survivors' and Disability Pension Plans). Since then, it has been offering occupational pension provision in compliance with the BVG obligation.

Your customized pension plan

From the very beginning, the focus has been on being able to offer customers tailored pension solutions that are not just geared towards meeting the statutory minimum. In addition to retirement provision, adequate insurance against the risk of disability and death should also offer the employees of the affiliated companies appropriate financial security and not just meet the statutory minimum. While the Foundation bears the retirement risk itself, the two risks of disability and death are reinsured with a renowned insurance company. In order to better meet the challenges of the 2nd pillar, the Foundation promotes the insurance of the beneficiaries' entire income. The most popular pension plans of the RTA Collective Foundation therefore do not have a coordination deduction or a salary cap. Insurance benefits are based on the insured salary. Management solutions are also on offer.

Ideal and individual solutions for SMEs

While each affiliate is still free to choose its own plan and the affiliates therefore differ in terms of employee cost sharing, contribution rates and insurance levels for further risk coverage, the investment of assets takes place jointly, as does the financing of the necessary technical provisions and the various administrative expenses incurred. This solidarity requires a certain homogeneity of the affiliated companies, on the one hand in terms of corporate philosophy and values, and on the other hand in terms of the number of employees and the prevailing salary structures.

Solid cover, secure investments

The collective foundation generally pursues a conservative investment strategy, with a high real estate component of around 25% forming the cornerstone. It relies exclusively on collective investments in the form of Swiss investment foundations. The foundation also invests in selected direct investments with a focus on the Swiss market and local currency. The investment strategy specified by the Board of Trustees is implemented by an experienced external asset management company. The Foundation's risk capacity is taken into account by means of a risk budget. The Foundation consistently exercises its participation rights. Our voting behavior at the General Meetings is based on the ethical principles of the affiliated companies. Committed to transparency, we disclose our voting behavior to the insured persons in an accountability report, including our respective motives.

Competent management with synergy effects

Since its inception, the RTA Collective Foundation has benefited from the professional support and management of Ramseier Treuhand AG. This relationship has always been a win-win situation in which well-trained staff can enrich their pension knowledge with practical experience. Ramseier Treuhand AG offers a wide range of services relating to the BVG and pensions. Special mention should be made of auditing services in the pensions sector, in which the auditing expert Alain Wenger, who also manages the business of the collective foundation, has specialized.
